  • At an approved event, you must comply with the terms of your permanent license.
  • Service of food is typically not required at your catered event although this does depend on the location (contact us for clarification).
  • Persons under the age of 21 may be in attendance at the event, but are not allowed to purchase, possess, or consume alcohol.

A portable bar license allows the holder of an on-sale licensee to have a bar that is moved about the premises for the sale of distilled spirits. A portable bar license is not required if you are only selling beer and wine.

If a venue is using multiple portable bars at the same time, they may require more than one license. For instance, if a banquet room is being furnished with 3 portable bars all in the same room, only one portable bar license is required. However, if a portable bar is being set up outside the room as well as inside, then each bar must have its own license.

It is important that you remain in compliance with the terms of your liquor license so please contact us directly if you have questions concerning a Type 68 license. The cost of a portable bar license ranges from $292 to $627 (depending on the population of the city where the license is located) and it is a great way for a restaurant, bar, or hotel to increase their revenues.

Occasionally, a bar or a restaurant may want to hold a special event on an adjacent property which can accommodate additional patrons for a day. An example would be a Super Bowl party or a New Year’s Eve party held in the parking lot of a restaurant or a bar. A type 77 California liquor license allows the licensee to expand their license on to property that is not currently licensed.

The establishment first must have an on-sale license and must then apply for the Event Permit. The permit is an add-on license and can not be obtained as a stand-alone liquor license. Cost is $131 and it allows up to four such events per year.

If you are a bar or restaurant owner, this is yet another way that you can increase your revenues, temporarily increase the capacity of your premises, and accommodate additional customers for special events.

If you have additional questions regarding Event Permits, please contact our office at 855-774-9200.
